Pre-Columbian Beads

The Pre-Columbian era was a time before the Americas were influenced by European culture. Pre-Columbia dates back to the 7th century B.C.E - 476  C.E.

Some of the endogenous tribes of this time were of Mesoamerica  which included  Aztec & Maya, Inca, Moche and Chibcha which came from the Andes. Many pre-columbian beads have been discovered in Guatemala, Mexico, Columbia and Peru.

These ancient  hand carved beads were made from Jadeite, Greenstone, Ammonite, Serpentine, Shell, and rock/stones from the surrounding areas of the indigenous tribes homes. Some of the very first beads ever made were from stone and shell.
